… for a new culture of Pentecost                                        May 14-23, 2010

What’s new for 2010?

In 2010, Pentecost of the Nations will begin on May 14 and flow into the ICCRS Pentecost Intercession Event - The Road to Pentecost - on May 19-23, 2010 in Assisi, Italy.

This will launch the next phase - a 7-year journey toward the 50th Jubilee anniversary of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in 2017.

Pentecost of the Nations…for a New Culture of Pentecost

The ICCRS 10-day Pentecost Project

“Oh, if only…unanimous and fervent prayers could be raised to Heaven in every part of Christendom as they were one in the Cenacle (upper room) of Jerusalem for a rekindling of the Divine Spirit.”   Bl. Elena Guerra

Imagine what would happen if “unanimous and fervent prayers” were raised in every time zone in the world for nine days!

Imagine what would happen if we witnessed to the power of the Holy Spirit in every part of the world throughout the 24 hours of Pentecost Sunday!

Imagine what God could do if we united in prayer and celebration for a freshoutpouring of the Holy Spirit on our world!

Imagine our world transformed!

Part 1 - Together We Pray!

Operation Upper Room

May 14 - 22, 2010

“Operation Upper Room” is a concerted initiative of prayer during the nine days between Ascension Thursday and Pentecost Sunday.   It is a return to the Upper Room, to intercede with Mary and the disciples for the rekindling of the grace of the first Pentecost, rediscovering the life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, whose original source is Pentecost.

Intercessors who participate in the Pentecost of the Nations will be linking together in a variety of Upper Room events organized by Prayer Groups, Communities and Individuals.   Individuals can also make a commitment to pray a novena to the Holy Spirit for the specified intentions of Pentecost of the Nations.  [See 2010 Intentions listed below.]  One suggested novena format is the Burning Bush Novena. www.burningbushinitiative.com

Intercessors will be united together weaving a dense global “net” of prayer which will be continuous, night and day, during the nine days before Pentecost (on national, regional and local levels). If you are making a commitment to pray a Novena to the Holy Spirit, and/or if you are planning a prayer event for your diocese, group or community, please send a copy of your promotional materials to deedoucet@gmail.com.   Following your events, please send a “praise report” to that same email.  Events will be included on the NSC website.  All the information for the various USA individuals and groups who are participating will be reported to the ICCRS Coordinator.

Part 2 - Together We Celebrate!

Pentecost Celebrations

You are encouraged to organize a Special events in your community or group…s throughout the nation and the world, each testifying to the “spirituality of Pentecost” as part of the great Charismatic family.  Here are some objectives to keep in mind when planning:

  • Pentecost Celebration events provide a united witness and proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1.8).
  • Pentecost Celebration events consist of charismatic prayer, short teachings, testimonies, a solemn invocation of the Holy Spirit and possibly a concert to glorify God!

SPECIAL PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR 2010

(Use during Operation Upper Room and at the various Pentecost events)

For a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit:

  • For the Church and Pope Benedict VI:  To proclaim the Good News in the power of the Holy Spirit – Acts 2:11.
  • For the World:  a) That all people would come to believe in Christ who was sent; b) for the unity of Christianity - John 17:21
  • For the Renewal:  a) For faithfulness to living and sharing our central calling of Baptism in the Holy Spirit; b) for unity within the many expressions of the Renewal world-wide as well as with the entire church; c) for fruitfulness in the many ministries and projects in which the Renewal  is involved.
  • For ICCRS:  For the vision, mission and service offered by ICCRS to the worldwide Renewal; for the necessary finances and resources and the Lord’s guidance and blessing upon all the ICCRS special events and projects.
  • For Your Continent and Nation:  Add your own prayers for your continent, nation and local concerns.

SUGGESTIONS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE PENTECOST OF THE NATIONS PROJECT:

  • Preparing the Way - Intercessors dedicate 9 times of prayer – at least an hour – from January 2010 to May 2010 – to intercede for the preparation of Pentecost of the Nations and all its events for a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
  • Pentecost Night and Day Novena Prayer Nets - Organize a prayer “net” of 1 hour units of prayer with various intercessors for 9 days – 24 hours a day..
  • Pentecost Eucharistic Adoration – Night and Day during the 9-day Novena time.
  • Burning Bush Cenacles – Prayer Vigils (even all night) – 3-day Pentecost Triduum.
  • Together we support ICCRS!  This Pentecost Project affords a great chance to collaborate in the mission of ICCRS to serve the Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church. Also it is a good opportunity to organize an official collection during the 10 days of events to give financial support to the service of ICCRS.

An answer that the worldwide Renewal  offers in response to the desire expressed by both Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI that the spirituality of Pentecost will spread in the Church for a new “Culture of Pentecost” (JPII, May 2004 – Benedict XVI, Sept 2005)

“Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine,
by the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”  Eph 3:20-21
