Toward the Jubilee Update May 2015

Toward the Jubilee: 50 Years of Grace for the New Evangelization!

UPDATE – MAY 4, 2015

Propelled by our vision and mission, and prompted by this invitation to Jubilee, depending upon the Holy Spirit to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20), the National Service Committee has embarked on our Campaign: Toward the Jubilee: 50 Years of Grace for the New Evangelization.

Catholic Charismatic Renewal will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2017. Saint John Paul II said; “Every Jubilee Year is like an invitation to a wedding feast.” Excited by this invitation of Jubilee, the National Service Committee and the Friends of the NSC have been joyfully preparing for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Pope Francis in his homily at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Istanbul reminded us, “The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church. He gives life, he brings forth different charisms which enrich the people of God and, above all, he creates unity among believers: from the many he makes one body, the Body of Christ. The Church’s whole life and mission depend on the Holy Spirit; he fulfills all things.”

This Campaign was launched quietly in 2013. Phase III was launched publicly at the National Leaders’ and Ministries’ Conference in Pittsburgh this past November. The Campaign seeks to raise $1,000,000 with two goals in mind: “expand our events and electronic outreach to newer audiences, particularly youth and young adults (included here is the hiring of a young adult minister for this area of outreach); and strengthen the long term financial stability of the NSC through the Third Millennium Fund for the New Evangelization.” At the recent NSC meeting a draft of the Young Adult Coordinator’s position was discussed and, with faith in the Lord for the funding, we are beginning the process of seeking candidates for this ministry position.

To date we have raised over $315,000 in donations and pledges toward our goal. The success of Toward the Jubilee will enable the NSC to foster the dynamic grace of baptism in the Holy Spirit to the next generation!
